PATRICE LEBON / A NEW AMBITION FOR MAURITIUS

FIRE ISLAND
MAURITIUS.

Born of fire. Seasoned by the world.

Fire cooking, producers’ ingenuity and island hospitality. The ambition of a gathering that would leave products, skills and markets behind.

THE ECONOMIC AMBITION

An island creates
its own stage.

Make Mauritius a place people visit for a distinctive culinary experience, and organise the conditions for its value to circulate locally.

Fire Island combines a proposed competition, Mauritian cuisines, training, products, hospitality and business meetings. Preparation must establish what it can finance, transmit and leave after the event.

02 / BLACK BASALT ARENA

Fire at the centre.
Craft all around.

Nine proposed scenes, each with a purpose. Explore their role in the experience and the project’s economics.

RECORDED FLAMES AND SMOKE

Fire brings us together.

RECORDED FLAMES AND SMOKE

Real fire footage: flames unfold, smoke follows the air and embers glow. This atmospheric close-up does not depict a festival venue. The other three views present the proposed design.

THE PURPOSE BEHIND THE SCENE

Black Basalt Arena

A signature arena for finals, demonstrations and awards. Basalt shapes the story; the actual venue must be designed and authorised.

03 / EXPERIENCE BECOMES CAPABILITY

What the event
should leave behind.

The model will be judged on its markets and costs as well as its images. The outcomes below are objectives to measure, not secured benefits.

01

The experience

An experience worth visiting.

02

The product

Products prepared for their market.

03

The skill

Skills that remain.

04

The market

Buyers and orders.

05

The asset

A brand, content and relationships.

A diversified economy.

Sponsorship, tickets, stands, hospitality, training and products: revenue streams to test separately, with their costs and conditions. No return is guaranteed.

A meaningful dashboard.

  • Room nights and spending attributable to the event.
  • Local purchases, SME access and post-event orders.
  • People trained, incidents, waste and water use.

04 / THE DISCIPLINE OF EVIDENCE

90 days to examine.
A decision to earn.

A proposed feasibility sprint. Its launch, resources and responsibilities remain to be agreed; no government mandate is announced.

J0–J15

Frame

Mandate, scope, focal points and decision criteria.

Expected evidence

A scoping letter and decision register.

The project must be able to stop if safety, demand or funding conditions are not met. Reversibility is part of its credibility.

Distances are approximate straight-line distances between island markers, not air or sea routes. Mauritius and Rodrigues are part of the same Republic. Atlas connections show possible cooperation, with no announced agreement.

THE CUISINES OF A PLURAL ISLAND

Fire reveals
diversity.

Ocean cuisine, poultry, plant-based dishes, street food, heritage and condiments. Categories must respect dietary sensitivities through separation, information and food safety.

✦

Hotel × Lakaz

Partnerships to build between hotels and local talent.

✦

Rodrigues Wildcard

A participation pathway to define with Rodrigues stakeholders.

✦

Women of Fire

Visibility and mentoring to structure for women chefs and entrepreneurs.

✦

Young Fire

Training and transmission to prepare with schools and professionals.

05 / CO-CREATE

Your place
in the preparation.

Business & sponsor

Associate a brand with an emerging destination asset.

Funding, equipment, distribution or expertise: define rights and benefits before any commitment.

WHAT MUST BE MEASURED

Qualified reach, contacts, content use and renewal.
